Game On: Flappy Bird Relaunches with MixMob Rewards

The revolutionary game Flappy Bird is making a comeback, now available on PC, iOS, and Android. Originally overlooked, this game has returned in a spectacular way, integrated into a mini-app within the messaging network Telegram.

Rumors suggest that a token is in the works on the Open Network (TON), which could further boost the game's potential. Even more exciting, Notcoin, a popular Telegram game where users earn through taps, is helping to bring Flappy Bird back to life.

In the second week of September 2024, Flappy Bird was relaunched on Telegram during the "Flappathon" event. According to a press release, this event is described as a "free-to-play mining event that combines the fun of Flappy Bird’s iconic gameplay with the innovations of Web3."

The new version of Flappy Bird is quickly attracting online players, while crypto bettors on betting platforms are also engaging with the game, seeking information on crypto betting strategies through online guides. However, the launch of this crypto-powered version on Telegram has sparked considerable debate since its initial signs of change emerged.

Although Solana tokens were hinted at on the Flappy Bird website, these references have since been removed. It remains unclear whether Solana integration is planned for the future or if the rising popularity of Telegram as a crypto gaming platform has delayed such plans.

Amidst rumors that the relaunch of Flappy Bird is a cryptocurrency scam, the game's original developer, Dong Nguyen, has distanced himself from the project, making it clear that he is not involved in promoting any crypto-related efforts.

The Flappy Bird trademark has reportedly been misappropriated by a company called GameTech Holdings. They challenged the trademark ownership through the US Patent Office, resulting in a ruling that declared the trademark abandoned.

The Flappy Bird Foundation has now claimed ownership of the iconic mobile game’s trademark. The foundation also asserts ownership of the rights to an unrelated game, Piou Piou vs. Cactus, which inspired the Flappy Bird protagonist.

The press release credits Chief Creative Officer Michael Roberts as being behind the new Flappy Bird game. In February 2023, Roberts stated on Twitter that he is now the owner of the Flappy Bird brand and game, and plans to bring it into the Web3 space. Nguyen's statement disassociating himself from the relaunch has fueled even more negative reactions toward the game.

In response to the controversy, the Flappy Bird Foundation issued a clarification: "The Flappy Bird Foundation Group is the rightful owner of the Flappy Bird trademark. The brand and community were abandoned in 2014, and in 2018, the US Patent Office transferred the trademark registration to Mobile Media Partners, Inc."

Can Flappy Bird Become Popular as a Crypto Game?

The success of Flappy Bird’s relaunch as a crypto game is still uncertain, but many are eagerly anticipating its return. While the nostalgia of Flappy Bird and the allure of a crypto-based game might initially draw attention, its long-term success will depend on several factors:

  • Gameplay Experience: The game must remain fun and engaging. If the integration of cryptocurrency feels forced or disrupts the flow of the game, players may lose interest quickly.
  • Reward Structure: There must be attractive incentives. Players need to feel that their time and effort are fairly rewarded, whether through crypto earnings or collectible items.
  • Security and Transparency: With the rise of scams in the crypto space, players will demand that the game ensures secure transactions and transparent rewards.
  • Regular Updates: To avoid fading into obscurity, the new Flappy Bird must stay fresh with regular updates and new features. This will help maintain players' interest over time.
  • Market Trends: The overall trend in the crypto gaming space will play a key role in Flappy Bird’s success. If the cryptocurrency market continues to thrive, Flappy Bird could benefit from that momentum.

MixMob Season 2 Launches with Over $50,000 in Crypto Rewards

On September 17, 2024, Season 2 of the card-battle racing game MixMob begins, offering over $50,000 in cryptocurrency rewards. Players will compete for limited-edition skins inspired by the iconic Stormtrooper from the Star Wars franchise.

The new season introduces fresh tracks and secret pop-up events, giving players even more opportunities to earn in-game rewards and cryptocurrency. MixMob, a popular Web3 game, features three core gameplay elements: racing, raiding, and remixing.

In the game, players are transported into a world run by an AI named Helix9, known as the MixBot. As part of a mission to restore culture and creativity, players engage in these key activities to advance.

MixMob incorporates two main tokens into its ecosystem: $MXM and SUD$. $MXM, the game’s utility and governance token, is used for purchasing items, entering races, and staking. On the other hand, SUD$ is a soulbound token that remains within the game's economy, providing a stable in-game currency unaffected by market volatility.

What to Expect from MixMob Season 2

One of the main highlights of Season 2 is the limited-edition MixTrooper skin, inspired by popular franchises like Star Wars. Players can earn this exclusive skin by completing races and daily missions, but it won't be available for purchase.

Along with new skins, this season introduces the Hyperdrive Rally track, designed to test players' skills with its fast-paced action and complex curves. Additionally, random pop-up arenas will appear, giving players the chance to win special in-game rewards. These arenas, inspired by pop-up culture, are only available for short periods, encouraging quick and strategic participation.

As the season progresses, players can unlock more rewards through the Battle Pass system. By completing missions, they can earn in-game items, skins, and cryptocurrency credits. A new feature in Season 2 is the MixTrooper sticker set, which players can collect by winning races and events. Completing the full set grants players eligibility for a special season-ending airdrop, which may contain rare game items or cryptocurrency rewards.

For competitive players, MixMob Season 2 introduces the MXM League, a weekly event where participants can earn league points. At the end of the season, top players will have the chance to compete for the season's grand prize in the MXM League Championship. Players can also form teams and climb the Crew Leaderboard, sharing in rewards if their team performs well.

Along with the new crypto game options, players can explore classic card games like Hold'em by referring to online guides on rules, tips, and strategies. This blend of fresh and exciting experiences aims to enhance the crypto gaming industry even further.
